Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about yeybu: how our free-item aggregator works, where listings come from, how to post or claim items, and how nearby search is used.

How do I claim a free item?

Open the item page and click the source or contact button. For community listings you can start a chat; for external marketplace listings you will be sent to the original site.

Why do some pages show 'Gone'?

Items are removed quickly once they are claimed or deleted. We tell search engines these pages are gone, so outdated pages disappear faster.

Is everything really free?

Yes. Items shown are marked free by the original poster or shared by the community. Always read descriptions for pickup requirements or conditions.

How often are new items added?

Multiple times per hour. We continuously check fresh sources and community listings.

Do I need an account to browse?

No. Browsing is open. An account is only needed to post your own listings, save favorites, or chat with other users.

How do I stay safe when picking up items?

Meet in public when possible, bring a friend for large items, and avoid sharing sensitive personal information. Trust your instincts.

Are listings verified?

External listings link to established marketplaces. Community listings are user-generated; abusive or spam entries are removed when reported.

What if an item is not actually free?

Occasionally descriptions change or mistakes happen. Report the listing and we will review and update or remove it.

What data do you store?

Basic analytics and any data you submit (account info, listings, favorites). We do not sell personal data. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Why do you geocode locations?

Geocoding provides approximate coordinates for map and distance filtering. Exact external source coordinates are not exposed publicly.
